Icolo and Bengo – about 25 kilometres of the National Road (EN)110, between the municipalities of Icolo and Bengo and Quiçama, in Luanda province, are potholed, forcing motorists to slow down and zigzag, ANGOP found.
This is the section that starts from the village of Catete to the “17 de Setembro” bridge over the Kwanza River, commonly known as the Cacabala bridge, which, due to its condition, worries drivers who travel to the village of Muxima or Cabo Ledo and vice versa.
Therefore, drivers appeal to the authorities for intervention to prevent accidents and ensure convenience for users.
In fact, those who depart from Luanda city to Quiçama have a quiet trip up to the village of Catete, specifically at the detour to Muxima, and from this place onwards, to the 17 de Setembro bridge (some 25 km), the circulation is made sometimes to the right and sometimes to the left, slowly, as a result of the holes in the road.
'I can only regret the state of abandonment in which this section is. We get tired of talking and complaining', truck driver José Lata said. He has been using this route to come and go from Cuanza-Sul, for more than 10 years, because of the low flow of vehicles.
On Wednesday, a van that was swerving from a hole, in the locality of Aldeia 107, collided with a motorcycle that was traveling in the opposite direction, causing injuries to the right leg of a young woman who was following behind the driver.
After the Kabbala bridge, to the village of Muxima, road traffic is done calmly, however, attention is drawn to the excess of tall grass that reduces the visibility of those circulating in the opposite direction, especially on curves.
This road has been used, in recent days, this road has been receiving a greater flow of vehicles, which daily take people to the village of Muxima, where the pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora Conceição da Muxima, 2024 edition, takes place from the 30th of August to 1st of September, under the motto “With Mary Live in Faith”, AJQ/DOJ
