Luanda - Diplomat Maria de Fátima Jardim presented Thursday (14th) in Nicosia, Cyprus, the Letters of Credence to the President Nicos Anastasiades as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Non-Resident Ambassador of Angola to that country.
At the ceremony, the President Nicos Anastasiades stressed his country's interest in intensifying the level of bilateral cooperation with Angola.
As for multilateral field, the two countries became partners in cooperation at the African Union (AU).
Ambassador Fátima Jardim, who was the bearer of a message from the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, to his Cypriot counterpart, highlighted the existing “friendship, collaboration and cooperation between the institutions of the countries”.
Fátima Jardim stressed, on the other hand, that the tourism sector will be one of those chosen for cooperation between Angola and Cyprus, since “Cyprus is a country that can, in terms of tourism, connect peoples, as it has its tourism developed and with excellent infrastructures”.
However, Ambassador Fátima Jardim also stressed the need to “create the main instruments of collaboration and cooperation, so that as soon as possible they can be approved by the two governments and start the steps of a new page in the relationship with this important country, which is part of the European Union”.
Maria de Fátima Jardim is the second ambassador of Angola accredited to the Republic of Cyprus.
