Luanda – A total of 4,240 military reservists of the Angola Armed Forces (FAA) have been officially transferred to the Angola National Police (PNA), ANGOP has learnt.
Candidates, who obtained positive results in the tests were selected for integration into the PNA, with 3,565 from the Army, 518 from the Air Force and 134 from the Navy.
The process was conducted on the basis of a Memorandum between the FAA and the PNA, and is divided into two stages, namely recruitment and selection.
Of the 10,000 reservists planned, 6,709 have been registered and confirmed, of which 5,825 from the Army, 605 from the Air Force and 256 from the Navy.
In this first phase, 5,638 reservists were tested and 4,240 succeeded.
Speaking at the formal transfer ceremony, the second general commander of the National Police, Ferreira de Andrade, stressed that the transition of the reservists will help mitigate the social impact of unemployment and promote their reintegration into society in a dignified and productive way.
According to the Police commander, the selected reservists met the requirements and profile to join the PNA, as this transition is more than an opportunity for them to continue serving their country, although it must be understood that the exercise of police activity is complex and requires responsibility and commitment to this new stage.
“Police work is professional. Therefore, we must bear in mind that the police officer complies with and enforces the law, respects the fundamental rights of citizens, ensures social peace, protects citizens and their property,” the commander said.
The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, José Maria Marques, on his turn stressed that the integration process of the reservists demonstrates the capacity of the institutions to work together for the common good, strengthen unity and cohesion in guaranteeing the fundamental freedoms of citizens.
José Maria Marques encouraged the former soldiers, assuring them that the homeland will continue to place its trust in their careers and in this new stage in which they are called upon to give their best with dedication and sacrifice, bearing in mind for the rest of their lives that “THE COUNTRY DOES NOT IMPLORE ITS CHILDREN, IT ORENAINS THEM”.
