Luanda – Officials of the parliamentary asset’s management of the Community of the Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) on Thursday in Luanda undertook the task and burden to a permanent exchange of partnerships and knowledge for the operation of legislative assemblies.
The commitment is expressed in the Final Communiqué adopted in the meeting held in Angolan capital, Luanda.
The participants recognised the importance of sharing experiences and knowledge to increase the quality of support for the parliament activities.
The meeting also recommended the establishment of a permanent staff network to allow an expedited exchange of contacts and discussion of common problems.
The CPLP staff also expressed the need for compliance with the basic principles of transparency, equality and competition that govern public procurement in a clear, appropriate and uniform manner, taking into account the adjustment to the needs of the parliamentary institution.
The meeting showed the need for parliaments to seek to ensure the same legal principles even if they use different tools and the quest for good practices in technical and technological means management.
João Nsumbo, director of Administration and Finance of the National Assembly, spoke of the need for the CPLP parliamentary staff to put into practice the commitments made at the meeting for the proper functioning of their respective legislative assemblies.
"We have in common the challenge of the daily management of our parliaments, which requires dedication and reflection," Nsumbo said.
The meeting brought together representatives from parliaments of Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome Principe, East Timor, Brazil and heads of the local offices of the host country.
