Lisbon - Angola ambassador to Portugal, Maria de Jesus Ferreira, has encouraged Angolans living in that European country to maintain their love for the homeland, the spirit of dialogue, unity and peace.
In a message on the 49th anniversary of national independence marked on November 11, the diplomat considered it essential that Angolans continue to “carry their country in their hearts”.
Maria de Jesus Ferreira stressed the need for Angolans in Portugal to keep the country's culture alive and to lead a life far removed from conflict and respect for the law.
The ambassador urged the Angolan community to commit to continuing and consolidating their integration into Portuguese society in a legitimate way, seeking better living and working conditions.
Maria de Jesus Ferreira reaffirmed the diplomatic mission's willingness to support the country's citizens living in Portugal.
“You can continue to count on the possible support of the Embassy so that your aspirations and achievements have the expected result (...) with our authorities,” the ambassador said.
The diplomat acknowledged that there are some economic difficulties that have worsened in an adverse international context, marked by various international conflicts.
In this context, the diplomat called for unity “in this common struggle, which is to give prestige to the name of Angola in Portugal”.
“Let's be proud to celebrate the 49th anniversary of our national independence together, in the certainty that we will remain united,” Ferreira said.
