Luanda - Public figures linked to culture lamented on Sunday, the death of the president of the carnival group União Mundo da Ilha, António Custódio (Babel), which happened today, in Luanda, due to illness.
On his Facebook page, the vice-governor for the Political and Social sector of Luanda, Manuel Gonçalves, wrote that "we are never prepared to say goodbye to someone forever, even though we know that we are subject to death and that it is part of life".
Considering himself a companion in cultural and artistic endeavors, Manuel Gonçalves ended his message with the phrase “you live in me”.
Actor Beto Cassua highlights that an important piece of national culture is broken, a resistant soldier from carnival.
He claims that Babel Custódio did his part, so his contribution passes into the collective memory, “because those who knew him know his value as a person, nourished with love for everyone”.
"Thank you, brother, for everything, rest in peace mate, one day we will meet", he says on his Facebook profile.
Corroborating this position, Miguel Tumba speaks of the carnival leader as a being of light, a brother in the true sense of the word, of the one who says, in joy and sadness, I am present with concrete actions.
"Go in peace bro, I will keep the best that we experience here on earth, we will meet one day in the afterlife, Luvuvamo", he adds.
In turn, Yuri Simão wrote that "we lost, my friend, my president, my showman and my BP comrade. There are so many things, they are our things and our people”.
Former Handball player and leader in Luanda, Babel Custódio died in one of Luanda's hospital units.
He was also a successful businessman in the beverage sector.
