Luanda - Seven startups in the initial “Alpha” stage (company development period), focused on the areas of finance, sustainability, urban mobility and e-commerce, will represent the country at the “Web Summit Lisboa 2024 edition”, to be held from the 11th to the 14th of this month, in Portugal, it was announced Monday, in Luanda.
The information was released by the executive director of the National Institute for Support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM), Bráulio Augusto, during a press conference, which aimed to address Angola's participation in the event, highlighting that the country will also be represented in the areas of robotics and technology.
These are the small companies Cyto, Sócio, ANDA, Aro-TEC, Ecoselecta, 5-Linhas and Kubinga, previously trained with the support of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), an institution affiliated with the World Bank, in order to find their business model.
According to Bráulio Augusto, participation in the summit aims to provide an immersive experience for these Angolan startups so that they can learn and create connections with other entrepreneurs, investors and global leaders, with a view to contributing to the economic diversification of the country and its transformation into a reference in technology and innovation in Africa.
He said he hoped that such presence would translate into new strategic partnerships and international connections in favor of the dynamization of the Angolan entrepreneurship ecosystem.
On the occasion, the manager reaffirmed INAPEM's continued support for these companies and Angolan entrepreneurs in general. Web Summit is one of the most important global technology, entrepreneurship and innovation events, held since 2009.
With a focus on marketing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) trends, this year more than three thousand startups are expected to participate, who will present ideas and projects over four days, with a view to shaping the future.
This will be the first time that the country will be represented at this event with a delegation, whereas in previous editions startups and national companies have participated individually. ACC/VC/TED/DOJ
