Luanda - The Minister of National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, João Ernesto dos Santos, began a 72-hour official visit in Cairo on Monday, as part of the strengthening of cooperation between Angola and Egypt in the field of defence and security.
Upon his arrival, the Angolan official received greetings from the Deputy Minister of Defense for the Border Guard, Commandos and Former Combatants and Veterans, and Development of Sinai, Emad Abdel Kader, the Angolan ambassador to Egypt, Nelson Cosme, among other individuals.
According to a press release, the ministerial agenda reserves different moments, the highest point being the signing of a cooperation agreement.
Visits to the Ministry of Military Production, the factory for developed industries, the vehicle department of the engineering industry complex, the monument of the late President Anwar Al-Sadat, the tribute to the unknown soldier, and a visit to the House of the Financial Affairs Authority of the Armed Forces are planned.
Among other places of interest, a visit to the National Museum of Civilization of Egypt is also scheduled, a monument with a collection of 50 thousand artifacts that tells the story of Egyptian civilization from the prehistoric period to the present.
Relations of political and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries were formalized on March 26, 1987, through the signing, in Luanda, of the General Agreement on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
The two states cooperate and are increasing cooperation in areas such as Economy, Trade and Industry, Education, Higher Education and Technical-Vocational Training, Energy and Water, Banking and Finance, Agriculture and Fisheries. VIC/DOJ
