Luanda - The minister of Education Luísa Grilo said Monday in Luanda that the Project for the Empowerment of Girls and Learning for All (PAT II) is a key element in the quest for quality education, the fight against school dropouts and the improvement of school management.
According to the official, the project contributes above all to humanizing relations between all members of the school community.
Luísa Grilo made the statement at the PAT II Project Seminar, which is being held until January 17, and which serves as an opportunity for everyone to learn and share experiences.
The minister emphasized that the seminar aims to mitigate the shortcomings identified during the financial control visits of the PAP II programs and activities, as well as to improve the knowledge of the technicians to adapt their actions to the rules and procedures of financial and accounting management.
According to the minister, the seminar aims to strengthen the capacity of financial management teams at the central, provincial and municipal levels and promote effective practices in line with international accountability standards.
"These efforts are aimed at ensuring that decentralized funds are used effectively to maximize results for the benefit of communities, especially girls," the minister said.
Irene Cardoso, manager of PAT II, said the World Bank has provided 250 million for the program to help students by giving them a school subsidy, which they call a scholarship, for those who attend the first cycle, the first and second year, with a focus on girls.
"In this case, when girls enroll, they will have the opportunity to receive their monetary value during the school year, and when they finish the ninth grade, they will receive another 35,000 kwanzas each as a bonus. The boys will only receive 35,000 kwanzas," she explained.
Irene Cardoso said that the presence of all the technicians demonstrated the collective commitment to the efficient and transparent management of the resources intended to promote inclusive education and girls' empowerment throughout the country.
She emphasized that PAT II plays an essential role in promoting equal opportunities, strengthening education and empowering girls, and that the correct application of decentralized funds is crucial to maximize the positive impact of this project on communities.
The seminar brings together more than 80 technicians from all over the country. Topics include financial issues, gender-based violence, and the code of conduct for people working on the project itself. AB/OHA/DAN/AMP
