Luanda – The President of Tanzania, Samia Hassan, on Tuesday in Luanda praised the efforts and unyielding determination of Angolan President João Lourenço in fighting corruption.
When speaking at the opening of the Plenary Session of the National Assembly, on the occasion of the 72-hour State visit, she stressed that, under João Lourenço's leadership, the Angolan economy has seen significant development.
Sami Hassan praised the wise way in which President João Lourenço, through his leadership, continues to promote national unity in the interests of all Angolans.
According to Samia Hassan, corruption destroys public trust, destroys markets and equitable access to social services, and also shortens development.
She went on to stress that the two countries need to explore their respective potential, just like they did during the liberation struggle.
This, she added, is done in the spirit of pan-Africanism and African unity, in favour of a common cause", she maintained.
Samia Hassan also explained that, during the meeting with the Angolan Head of State, they discussed issues linked to the revitalisation of the economic sector, defence and security, as well as visa exemption.
She also said that they agreed to work in the African Union (AU), especially in the implementation of Agenda 2063, among other projects, such as the Continental Free Trade Area, the free movement of people and goods, the silencing of guns by 2030, as well as the infrastructure development programme on the continent.
The Tanzanian Head of State stressed that both countries are firm in their founding principles aimed at transforming the region.
