Catete – Angolan Minister of Energy and Water João Batista Borges said on Wednesday in Catete that the seat of the municipality of Cabo Ledo and the tourist area of Sangano, in the same district, will have electricity from the public grid by the end of this year.

The Minister, who was speaking at the end of the visit to the sector's projects,  in the province of Icolo and Bengo,  stressed that the local reality (Cabo Ledo and Sangano), supports the electrification of these areas taking in account the development of commercial and tourist activity and the population flow.

'We want Cabo Ledo and the tourist area of Sangano to have public electricity by the end of this year, so everything is being done to make it effective', he confirmed.

The head of the Energy and Water sector also said that within the scope of energy projects, there are solutions, through photovoltaic systems, which will also start this year, in the municipality of Quiçama, covering 1,000 families from 10 villages.

The photovoltaic project, he said, is under the responsibility of the provincial government, which has already handled all the administrative procedures for the start of the work.

On the other hand, João Baptista Borges made it known that a project is underway for the electrification of the future Basilica of Muxima, under construction in the municipality of Quiçama, after the demining has been completed, along the entire route where the electricity grid will pass.

During his stay of a few hours, in the province of Icolo and Bengo, the minister visited a project of the water supply system of Quilonga Grande, in the municipality of Bom Jesus, the Water Distribution Center in Catete and the Quiminha and Cabo Ledo section.

The governor also noted the place where the photovoltaic energy project will be implemented, in the municipality of Quiçama.

The province of Icolo e Bengo, which leaves the Political and Administrative division with Luanda, has as its headquarters the town of Catete, seven municipalities and 11 communes.

It has an estimated population of 131,268 inhabitants, spread over an area of 3,819 square kilometers. CLAU/AJQ/DOJ
