Luanda - The national team won three gold medals in tumbling on Friday at the International Gymnastics Tournament held at the Kilamba Pavilion in Luanda.
In the women's junior all-around, Chimbali won gold with 38.30 points, leaving the silver medal to her compatriot Madalena Njimbe, who scored 26.20 points. The bronze went to Ariana Mukaro of Zimbabwe with 9.40 points.
Angola won another gold medal in the junior men's event with Alegria Malemba with 41 points. Januário Tungawassi took silver with 40.3 points and Pedro Muendagula bronze with 38.5 points.
In the senior women's event, dominated by Angolans, Julmira Segunda topped the podium with 38.60 points, followed by Angelina Elias (35.90 pts) and Massoji Canhanga (35.40 pts).
Another silver medal in tumbling was won by Angola's Asser António with 45.7 points in the men's senior all-around.
He was only beaten by the world runner-up, Portugal's Vasco Peso, who scored 54.8 points out of a total of six competitors. The bronze medal went to Pedro Sacupuepua of Angola (45.7 points).
Gymnasts from Angola (host), Zimbabwe, Namibia, Portugal and Brazil took part in the international competition, which was held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's independence on November 11. JAD/MC/TED/AMP
