Luanda –At least 112 billion kwanzas were yielded in 2024 by the insurance mediation sector in direct premiums, representing 24 percent of the total market, the Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Ottoniel dos Santos, has said.

The official made the statement at the opening of the forum on the New Paradigm of Insurance Mediation organized by the Angolan Insurance Regulation and Supervision Agency (ARSEG).

According to the Secretary of State, this collection represents a doubling in relation to previous years.

In terms of commissions generated, he said, the activity totaled 9.7 billion kwanzas, demonstrating the sector's economic relevance and its capacity to generate a positive impact on the lives of many economic agents.

‘The quantitative growth of the sector needs to be accompanied by a continuous effort towards technical qualification, professional ethics and alignment with the real needs of policyholders,’ he said.

The forum analyzed topics such as ‘The new mediation paradigm in Angola’, ‘Implications of the extension of the legal regime’, ‘The conduct of the mediation professional’, among others.

The insurance mediation sector controls 3,518 individual mediators and 119 collective mediators. ML/ASS/DAN/AMP
