Luanda - TAAG - Angolan Airline launched on Thursday in Luanda an Autism Education and Social Inclusion Program aimed at raising awareness among families in the communities about the special needs of autistic people.
According to a statement sent to ANGOP on Friday, the project was launched as part of the World Autism Awareness Day, celebrated on April 2, with the aim of raising awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and sensitizing the community on the issue.
Autism is a neurological disorder that affects communication, behavior and social interaction, so awareness is key to ensuring that those affected receive the support and respect they need.
Correct information about autism helps to combat stereotypes and prejudice and promotes inclusion in schools, workplaces and society in general.
At the same time, TAAG is developing a protocol of cooperation with its partner Kuzolamona - the Child Development Center - to train the company's employees in the special care of autistic passengers and to gather international best practices, procedures and methodologies that can be applied in the civil aviation sector.
In addition, the company, through its Corporate and Social Responsibility Department, will participate in the European Autism Congress in Lisbon on April 12-13, an event that brings together world-renowned experts, families and educators to discuss scientific advances and promote inclusion and empathy in society.
In this way, TAAG demonstrates its ongoing commitment to social responsibility and supports projects in line with one of the company's strategic pillars, "People and Community".
The event was attended by members of TAAG's Board of Directors, institutional bodies, ambassadors for this social cause, as well as specialists in child neurodevelopment, behavioral profiling and autism, who had the opportunity to speak and disseminate knowledge about this scourge. AB/SEC/DAN/AMP
