Harare - President João Lourenço delivers the keynote speech of the 44th Ordinary Summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) today, at the end of his 12-month chairpersonship term of the organization.
is speech as outgoing chairperson takes place in the morning, during the opening session of the meeting, followed by the delivery of the organization's badge to his counterpart from Zimbabwe as the new acting president.
The program of the opening ceremony also includes interventions by other individuals such as the executive secretary of SADC, the president of the African Union Commission and the president of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
The inaugural speech will be given by the Head of State of Namibia, who precedes the speech by João Lourenço, will be given by the President of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, after the welcome speech by the host Emmerson Mnagagwa.
As in previous editions, the summit of heads of state and government takes place on the day that the regional organization celebrates another anniversary of its foundation, celebrated every year on August 17. IZ/VIC/DOJ
