Luanda – The Minister of State for Social Sector Dalva Ringote said on Wednesday in Luanda that the third edition of the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace - Luanda Biennial, is Angola's firm commitment to the peaceful resolution of conflicts and to strengthen democracy, development and prosperity in the social and economic area.
Speaking at the opening of the event running since Wednesday, The minister said adopted slogan "Education, Culture of Peace and African Citizenship as Tools for the Development of the Continent”, and represents the will of the African peoples to establish themselves in the political, economic, environmental and food security, fight against poverty, science, culture, women's empowerment and social inclusion.
The Angolan minister reiterated that the two-year event is a space for dialogue and the promotion of peace on the African continent that brings together heads of state, young people, international leaders, financial institutions, the private sector, civil society, the scientific, artistic and sporting communities.
Dalva Ringote underlined that the African continent has the peace as a common goal, as it is fully aware that it is the basis for development, economic and political integration, training of human capital, attract investment, promoting trade, sustainable management of natural resources, energy security and technological development.
The minister highlighted that "Angola is a land of peace that everyone is proud of as Angolans and Africans."
Education, peace and citizenship are essential for the sustainable development of the continent, the minister said, emphasizing the importance of a common vision to which African states are increasingly committed.
The minister recalled that the continent has a population of 1.4 billion people, the majority of whom are women and young people, who are called upon to contribute to the solutions of the major challenges, especially in terms of culture, education, empowerment and the peace-building process.
The third edition of the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence - Luanda Biennial runs until November 24 under the theme: "Education, Culture of Peace and African Citizenship as Tools for the Development of the Continent".
In six panels, the event will debate the themes "Young people as players in promoting a culture of peace and social transformation on the continent/High Level Dialogue",”.
Technologies and education as instruments for gender equality", "The role of women in peace, security and development processes", "The process of transforming education systems: innovative practices and African funding", as well as "The challenges and opportunities of integrating the African continent and the prospects for economic growth", "Climate change, ethical challenges, impact, adaptation and vulnerability".
