Luanda - The Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, Monday in Luanda, reiterated the government's commitment to public policies that generate real opportunities for the well-being of young Angolans.
In a message on the occasion of April 14, marked as the National Youth Day, Rui Falcão highlighted the implementation of the Youth Development Plan and National Plan for the Development of Sports 2024-2027 (PLANADESPORTO), programs that have young people as protagonists.
In the letter, the minister praises the resilience and creativity of Angolan youth, stressing that April 14 celebrates the strength of young people who believe, transform and never give up.
"It is the young people who build schools, energize cultural centers, innovate in startups, lead communities and make sports a driving force for national unity. In this generation, which courageously builds bridges and sows seeds for the future, we are find renewed hope for a fairer, more inclusive and better prepared country," stressed the minister.
He added that this is the reason why "today Angola stops to honor you, because April 14 is not just a date on the calendar. It is a national proclamation that youth are the beating heart of the Nation."
However, National Youth Day was established in honor of Hoji-Ya-Henda, also known as José Mendes de Carvalho, a guerrilla commander in the fight for Angolan Independence, who died in combat on April 14, 1968, at the age of 27. SJ/MCN/MRA/DOJ
