Luena - The government of the eastern province of Moxico praised the strategic role that ANGOP has played in the process of consolidating a more just, informed and participatory society in Angola.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new ANGOP provincial delegation in Moxico, the Deputy Governor for Political, Economic and Social Affairs, Elizabeth Ayala, said the new infrastructure symbolizes the strengthening of the right to information as one of the essential pillars of democracy and the rule of law, providing quality information, proximity and accountability.

The official stressed that ANGOP's presence in the province since independence is an example of institutional perseverance, "even in the most adverse times, it has always fulfilled its mission, giving voice to the people, documenting local history and linking Moxico to the country and the world.

Investing in ANGOP is investing in truth, collective memory and the sovereignty of information," she said, calling for the agency to be a center for the production of content with local, regional and national impact, promoting the voices of all social groups and being the guardian of Moxico's history, making it more present in the national debate.

ANGOP's Technical Director, João Amadeu Simão, representing the Chairman of the Board of Directors, said that the inauguration comes at a time when ANGOP is facing great challenges from an editorial, technical and, basically, organizational point of view.

These challenges include the diversification and improvement of content, technological modernization, staff training and capacity building, as well as the search for alternative sources of income to realize the projects, he stressed.

As part of the modernization of the company, he said that audiovisual projects such as podcasts, major interviews and reports are underway, as well as the gradual introduction of new content in the program, in order to materialize the right to information.

He appealed to the workers to remain optimistic and contribute to building a renewed ANGOP, where peace, concord, harmony and a spirit of cooperation continue to prevail.
