Uige - More than 1,000 individuals, including tourists, students, religious and youth associations, visited the Congo Museum in the city of Uíge, in this first quarter of 2025, the head of the Department of Culture, Historical Heritage and Traditional Communities in Uige Nelson Bunga said Thursday.
Nelson Bunga made this statement at the end of a visit from the Youth Recreation, Sport and Culture Association to the Congo Museum, where he stressed that the adhesion of the population to this historical place is due to the publicity of the place, testimonies of some visitors, as well as the realization of seminars and workshops that address the history of culture in the region.
The official urged the entire population to visit the Congo Museum, justifying that it has the historical memory of the region's habits and customs.
In turn, the executive secretary of the Youth Association of Recreation, Sport and Culture in Uige, Nonsimba Cristina Simuto, reported that the visit aims to encourage youth to continue to value the culture and history of the region.
Regarding the association he directs, she said that the challenge is the expansion of the organization in the remaining municipalities of the province, in order to want to convey knowledge that aims to contribute to the development of the region.
She stated that the Association has given lectures to talk about the role of youth in society, a round table to address the culture of the Uige, among other events.
The Congo Museum has 148 historical pieces, 121 photographic illustrations by the first president of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, and 1,242 books on culture, history and other approaches.
The Youth Association of Recreation, Sport and Culture was created on January 12, 2025 and has 88 members.EPP/JAR/DOJ
