Luanda - The Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) on Monday, in Kinshasa, analysed the political and security situation in the region, particularly in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
While meeting at their 21st Ordinary Session, the participants called for community solidarity and instructed the Commission to adhere to the Luanda Road Map for the cessation of hostilities by the M23 Group.
The participants also called for the immediate removal of occupied positions in accordance with the Nairobi Mini-Summit Final Communiqué.
Under the guidance of Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the DRC and acting chair of ECCAS, the Conference reiterated the community's commitment to defend at the United Nations Security Council, the lifting of the arms embargo against the Central African Republic.
To this end, it instructed the Group of Ambassadors of ECCAS Member States in New York City to work hard in this regard.
The Conference adopted the Report of the Council of Ministers and its recommendations.
Besides the host Head of State, the ordinary meeting was attended by the Presidents of the Central African Republic, Sao Tome and Principe, Chad and the representatives of the Heads of State and Government of the other ECCAS member states.
Angola was represented by the minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, on behalf of the President Republic, João Lourenço.
