Addis Ababa - Adwa's victory is a manifestation of courage and unity that can be taken as a good example for the whole of Africa, considered, this Saturday, in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), the Angolan military attaché in this country, Colonel José Fonseca.
The Battle of Adwa took place on March 1, 1896, between Ethiopia and Italy, near the Adwa town, with the victory of the army of the African emperor Menelik II.
Cited by the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), the military man who was among the guests at the celebration of the 127th anniversary of the event, defended the unity and capacity to fight for freedom as African's people features.
According to the official, Africans should celebrate this victory, as it affects everyone's desire to live free, underlining the need for the date to be more promoted.
"If we gather ourselves as one, under the spirit of Pan-Africanism, Africa's development will be a reality and the free trade agreement is a consequence of all the processes that we started with our ancestors", he underlined.
José Fonseca meant that Africans now aspire for a more integrated Africa, towards development and united to the full integration of the continent in several domains.
Adwa's victory this year was colourfully celebrated in a coordinated fashion, with a military parade taking place in the capital plus several celebrations across the country.
In Meskel Square, Addis Ababa, the act was chaired by the President of the Republic, Sahlework Zewdie; the President of the Federation's House of Representatives, Agegnahu Teshager, the President of the People's House of Representatives, Tagese Chafo, among several personalities.
