Angolan Parliament Speaker discusses bilateral relations with Brazilian Ambassador

Luanda - Bilateral relations between Angola and Brazil dominated the audience that the Speaker of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, granted to the Brazilian Ambassador in this southern African country, Eugénia Barthelmeses.

Speaking to the press, the Brazilian diplomat expressed her willingness to contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations within the framework of relations with the parliamentary functional bodies of her country.

Eugenia Barthelmeses considered the parliamentary cooperation between Angola and Brazil as dynamic and important, based on a relationship of great trust, after having highlighted the fact of its important diplomatic role.

The diplomat informed, without mentioning a date, that the visit of the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, to the Federative Republic of Brazil is being prepared through diplomatic channels, adding that the topics that will be discussed in Brasília during the Angolan statesman's visit are being worked on.

Eugénia Barthelmeses stressed that the joint cooperation activities between Brazil and Angola are diverse, traditional and historical, mainly in the areas of agriculture, education, food security, training and health.

According to the diplomat, since her arrival in the country, she has seen the presence of technical cooperation missions in both directions with great frequency, as part of the exchange of experiences between the two countries.

The diplomat announced that her country will host the COP30 at the end of this year, considering it a very important global meeting in the areas of combating climate change and promoting sustainable development. In this context, she believes that there is much to be done together with Angola, as the two countries have similar historical profiles.

"We are countries with similar historical profiles, we share the same ambition, the same goal of consolidating sustainable development and combating the negative effects of climate change," said the diplomat. LDN/SC/AMP
