Luanda – President Samia Suluhu Hassan is in Angola since Monday (7) afternoon for a three-day state visit, at the invitation of her local counterpart, João Lourenço.
Upon her arrival, the Tanzanian stateswoman was received at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport by the minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António.
According to the presidential agenda, during her stay in Angola, the Head of State of Tanzania will carry out an intense politico-diplomatic, economic and cultural program.
Among the highlights is the visit to the Dr. António Agostinho Neto Memorial, where she will lay a wreath in honor of the first Angola President and sign the respective Book of Honor.
A meeting with the highest official of the Angolan Nation is also planned, at the Presidential Palace, in which the two Heads of State will focus on deepening bilateral relations between Angola and Tanzania, as well as participating in a Solemn Plenary Meeting of the National Assembly, on the occasion of their visit to Angola.
Political and diplomatic ties between Angola and Tanzania were formally established in 1976, shortly after the proclamation of Angola’s national independence.
Tanzania stood out as one of the African countries that most supported the liberation struggle in the PALOP (Portuguese Speaking Countries), having welcomed and assisted Angolan liberation movements on Tanzanian soil.
This historic relationship of solidarity has turned into a lasting friendship, which has been consolidated over the last few decades.
Both countries share a common vision on sustainable development, regional integration and the defence of multilateralism, cooperating actively within the African Union (AU), the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and other international platforms.
