Kinshasa – Angola´s Foreign Affairs Minister, Teté António, on Friday in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), met with the United States of America Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of African Affairs, Mary Phee, with a view to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Teté António and Mary Phee are in the DRC capital city to witness the inauguration of Felix Tshisekedi for a second five-year term as President of the Republic of that African country.
Speaking to the press, the Angolan government official informed that they discussed numerous issues with Mary Phee, in particular the possibility of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken visiting Angola, as well as the stability situation in the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Great Lakes region.
Minister Teté António also met with the head of the United Nations (UN) Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Bintou Keita.
At the end of the meeting, the Angolan Minister said that the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) has been a very useful institution in harmonising initiatives to seek peace in the DRC. JFS/VIC/MRA/DOJ
