Luanda – At least 1,500 children on Friday in the Province of Luanda participated in the 4th edition of the Children's Book and Entertainment Fair, with a view to awakening their talents in different areas of knowledge, as well as to continue cultivating the love for reading.
The event is promoted until Saturday by the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women (MASFAMU), through the National Children's Institute (INAC).
At the opening, the fair was lively with dances and children's songs, as well as poetry recitation, a reading contest, as well as a performance by musician Nerú Americano.
At the time, the secretary of State for Family and Promotion of Women, Alcina Kindanda, emphasized that the children's book exhibition aims to convey to children their rights in society.
On the other hand, the director of the National Children's Institute (INAC), Paulo Kalesi, highlighted that since the first edition, the activity has had a positive impact on the sharing of knowledge between children and adults in the same space.
He informed that this year´s edition is part of the celebrations of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which was adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) on November 20, 1989.
He added that the fair has sparked children's interest in reading, music, poetry, theatre and other activities.

In addition to entertainment, on this first day of the fair, topics such as "The importance of reading in child development", "Children's rights" and "Reproductive sexual education" were covered.
On the second day of the event, on November 23rd, in the same venue, the Eleven Commitments to Children will be presented in the story titled "Os meu 11 Cambas" (My 11 friends) by writer Margarida Leite.
There will also be a time for interaction between children and public figures such as children's writers, journalists, police officers, actors and others.
The Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted by the UN General Assembly on November 20, 1989 and came into force on 2 September 1990.
Therefore, this year marks the 35th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which has been ratified by 196 countries.
