Luanda - Two primary schools with seven classrooms each were inaugurated Thursday in the urban districts of Maianga and Sambizanga, in Luanda municipality, Luanda province, by the Luanda deputy governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure, Cristino Mário Ndeitunga.
Built as part of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) and costing 120 million kwanzas each, the schools will house 600 pupils each.
According to the President of the Administrative Commission of Luanda (CAL), Maria Antónia Nelumba, the rooms of the 1150 Maianga school, located in the Cassequel do Buraco neighbourhood join the existing 12 rooms that house 1,360 pupils.
Inaugurated in 2018, by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, the unit that taught only classes from initiation to grade 6, will now receive students up to grade 9, according to the official.
In Sambizanga, at Largo do Brás, school 1306 "Bernardo Jorge Martins Correia - Bangão" was built from scratch and is a tribute to the singer for his achievements in national music.
In his turn, the deputy governor of Luanda, Cristino Mário Ndeitunga, urged the users of the schools (directors, teachers and pupils) to preserve the public asset, so that it can benefit other pupils for a long period.
He characterised Bangão as an excellent artist of the country's culture and a symbol of elegance, so that the homage means a responsibility for the teachers and pupils, so that out of it come professionals who do elegant works.
