Uíge – At least 6,180 liters of fuel, stored in bottles and barrels in two residences and in a forest, in the municipality of Quimbele, Province of Uíge, were discovered and seized, on Monday, by the local Criminal Investigation Service (SIC).
The diesel was stored in a 20-liter bottle, while the petrol was stored in two 200-liter barrels, in the villages of Quiriamavo and Wamba, which are 28 and 37 kilometers from the municipal headquarters of Quimbele.
Speaking to ANGOP on Tuesday, the SIC spokesperson in Uíge, Zacarias Fernando, explained that the objective was to transport the fuel to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), using clandestine routes to be sold.
He added that the national police also detained a 46-year-old man, owner of the product, who was charged with the crime of circulating petroleum products for smuggling.
