Luanda - The Angolan Government plans to present, this month, the commitment to renew the Informal Economy Reconversion Program (PREI) to the European Union (EU), the entity that provides budgetary support to the project, whose number of official operators in the country goes up to 251,674.
The intention was expressed Thursday, in Luanda, by the Head of the Board of Directors of the National Institute for Support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM), João Nkosi, having highlighted that its implementation will allow the continuation of the program’s financing.
The manager was speaking at the 28th thematic session, dedicated to this reconversion program, promoted by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Mass Media (MINTTICS).
During his intervention, João Nkosi reviewed the program's performance, which, in the field of micro-credit, benefited 9,475 micro-operators, with a value corresponding to more than AOA 8.6billion (US$ 9.316.036) and reimbursement to the Active Angolan Venture Capital Fund (FACRA) in arround of 17%.
In terms of literacy, financial inclusion and entrepreneurship, 63 thousand economic operators were trained within the program's scope.
João Nkosi considers it to a continuous program, whose documents approved at the meeting of his multisectoral committee need to be implemented, with emphasis on the new PREI paradigm.
The Informal Economy Reconversion Program (PREI) takes shape in the National Development Plan (PDN 2023-2027) and aims to remove barriers to economic formalization, focusing on the primary sector and commerce, increase levels of banking and financial inclusion, as well as to improve working conditions.
