Saurimo – The Secretary of State for Mineral Resources, Jânio Correa Victor defended continuous training of staff as a 'key' factor to ensure the future of the diamond sector, particularly in Angola.
Speaking Thursday in Saurimo, at the ceremony of handing out certificates to the trainees of the course on 'Diamond Valuation and Cutting Techniques', given at the Professional Training Centre for Diamond Valuation and Cutting (CEFOLAD), the official reiterated that the Government will continue to invest in training for the development of Angolan staff.
For seven months, the session allowed 68 technicians to be trained, marking the third group of trainees since the inauguration of CEFOLAD.
By the way, the Secretary of State called on the trainees to obey the work ethic and always overcome the challenges that lie ahead.
For his part, the vice-governor for Technical and Infrastructure of Lunda-Sul, Cláudio Pemessa, asked the young graduates to work anywhere in Angola, because there are diamonds in almost every part of the country, and they must put into practice the knowledge acquired.
For SODIAM, the official appealed to the need to accompany all the staff trained at the center, so that they have a good performance and encourage them to get their first job.
Located in the Saurimo Diamond Development Pole, CEFOLAD plays a crucial role in promoting local employability by empowering young people from the regions surrounding the mining areas.
CEFOLAD aims to fill the shortage of Angolan workers trained in diamond evaluation and cutting, ensuring the necessary qualification to meet the demand of the national diamond industry.
It also has the role of minimizing the effort of the manufacturing units to be built in the pole, in the recruitment of Angolan staff endowed with skills for diamond polishing, contributing to the growth and competitiveness of the sector.
In addition, the center contributes significantly to the socio-economic development of the region by offering training and employment opportunities in a strategic sector for the country.
The ceremony of delivery of certificates to the trainees was also witnessed by distinguished members of the Government and senior technicians of SODIAM. JW/QCB/DOJ
