Curoca – Two generators are to be installed in Cahama Municipality, southern Cunene Province, with the aim of reinforcing the supply of electricity to this region, the minister of Energy and Waters, João Baptista Borges, informed on Thursday.
According to the minister, in Curoca Municipality the authorities are to build a photovoltaic plant of 1,500 kva.
Speaking in Chitato locality (Cunene) the minister guaranteed that there will be a reinforcement of electricity supply to Cahama and Curoca at medium term.
According to the minister, speaking to journalists on the fringes of an assessment visit to projects aimed to fight drought in the region, João Baptista Borges explained that this is an emergency solution that will start to be executed in 2025.
“We are just about to acquire the equipment for the concretization of the project and strengthen the supply of power to all neighbourhoods of Cahama”, he assured.
He also disclosed information about the future execution of a long-term project, forecast for the next two years, which is the construction of big power sub-station in Cahama, which is intended to connect with the neighbouring country of Namibia.
Cahama Municipality’s population is estimated at 79,056 inhabitants. PEM/LHE/OHA/jmc
