Luanda - The government plans to carry out a pilot population census in 2023, one year before the General Population and Housing Census (RGPH) to be carried out in 2024, the Secretary of State for Planning, Milton Reis said today in Luanda.
The members of the National Assembly (AN) approved on Thursday (23/06), the Draft Legislative Authorisation Law to allow the President of the Republic to regulate the regime of preparation, approval and execution of the programme for the second General Population and Housing Census, in 2024.
The pilot census is an activity whose purpose is to test the level of organisation, methodologies, procedures and, above all, the possible constraints of the operation, in order to correct and take precautionary measures, before the census itself.
Milton Reis said that, with the approval of the law by the NA, the legal and juridical requirements are established so that the President of the Republic, as Head of the Executive Power, can create the technical, material and human conditions to carry out the census in 2024.
"(...) and in this way Angola will join the list of countries that carry out this great statistical operation every 10 years," he added.
