Caxito - The 5th edition of the Pango Aluquém fair, Bengo province, raised around 19.6 million Kwanzas, 3.7 million more than the previous edition.
To reach this figure, 49 tonnes and 560 kilograms of various products were sold at this edition, such as bread and bananas, beans, peanuts, yams, passion fruit, maize, cassava and potatoes.
It allowed business to expand and generated income for families, featured 88 exhibitors who demonstrated the region's potential in the agriculture and entrepreneurship field.
For the deputy provincial governor for the Political, Social and Economic Sector, José Francisco Bartolomeu Pedro, the fair promotes national products and encourages their purchase.
The politician highlighted the municipality's potential and asked farmers to diversify and increase production, as the government will continue to focus on improving access routes to allow production to flow to the main consumption centers.
The municipal administrator of Pango Aluquém, Rosa Alfredo, on his turn said bananas and passion fruit were the products that stood out most at the fair, since they are the products that help the farmers' family income the most.
With two communes (Sede and Cazuangongo), the municipality of Pango Aluquém has an estimated population of 6,571 inhabitants, mostly farmers. FS/CJ/IF/MRA/AMP
