Luanda – Aspects related to the expansion of the Lobito Corridor was under discussion, recently, during a teleconference held in Tanzania, reads a note published on the U.S State Department website.

Held under the theme “Lobito Corridor Expansion and U.S Infrastructre on the African Continent”, the conference was chaired by the Acting Special Coordinator for the U.S State Department Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGI), Helaina Matza.

The meeting analysed the ongoing investments led by the United States of America (USA) in the development of the Lobito Corridor, thus stimulating progress toward the vision of a Trans-Africa Corridor from the Atlantic to the Indian oceans. 

Helaina Matza, who recently made a visit to the DR Congo and Tanzania, underlined the efforts of the North American Government towards supporting regional integration and sustainable economic development, through the continuation of investments in quality infrastructure.

She conveyed to the participants in the conference, the result of her trip to the two African countries and reiterated the U.S focus on expanding the Trans-Africa Corridor. This includes, she disclosed, the relaunch of partnership with the DRC, the engagement of the Tanzanian Government and the private sector.

On the occasion, she quoted President Joe Biden by stressing tha this emblematic project is not limited to the construction of infrastructures, but it is about building the future of the region.
