Luena - The head coach of FC Bravos do Maquis, Mário Soares, on Monday in the Province of Moxico, recognised the superiority of Petro de Luanda, their opponents for the Tuesday match ahead of the 15th round of the 2023/24 first division National Football Championship, also dubbed as Girabola, to take place in the 11 de Novembro stadium.
During the press conference to launch the challenge, Mário Soares presented advantages for Petro de Luanda, due to their staff and objectives, adding that his club is endowed with values and skills, as well as united, thus they will make every effort to win points.
"The certainty of football is the uncertainty of the result, and that is what we are going to try to do, because we believe in our arguments", he said.
FC Bravos do Maquis have 17 points, with three consecutive wins, against Santa Rita (2-0), São Salvador (1-0) and União de Malange (2-1), while Petro de Luanda has 24 points, with two wins against Desportivo da Huíla (1-0) and Kabuscorp do Palanca (3-0), and drew with Sagrada Esperança (0-0).
According to the record, in terms of matches between the two squads, Petro de Luanda, 17-time Girabola champions, have won 25 of their 44 encounters, while FC Bravos do Maquis, the winners of the Angolan Cup in 2015, have seven wins over Petro and 12 draws.
FC Bravos do Maquis´s biggest win over Petro was in the 2013 edition of Girabola (4-2) at the Mundunduleno stadium, while two years earlier Petro de Luanda thrashed Maquis at the 11 de Novembro stadium (7-0).
