Luanda – Angolan International Master (IM) Esperança Caxita beat Kenya's Master Candidate(MC) Nyaruai Ndorangu on Wednesday to climb to 7th position in the African Chess Championship being held in Egypt.
The Angolan, who is seeking points to achieve the unprecedented title of Grand Master, was in the 10th position before the match.
The other Angolan, the Fide Master (MF) Jemima Paulo tied with Egyptian Mareim Mohammed and remains in 17th position, with 3 pts.
The Angolan athlete comes from two wins and a draw.
The event takes place in a round-robin tournament with the pairing announced moments before the beginning of each round, according to the International Chess Federation regulations.
At least 18 countries are taking part in the event, 32 women and 70 men.
