Luanda - The National Junior Female Handball Team finished sixth in the World Championship, being held in Slovenia, after losing today, Sunday, by 21-23, against Denmark.
Angola thus reach the best performance ever in a World Championship, which for the first time is disputed by 32 countries, against the previous 24.
The African champions were 11-12 down at half time, but they managed to scare the opponents several times.
In the second half, with obvious balance, the Angolan team managed to equalize on several occasions, but in the final moments, the lack of defensive concentration, dictated the defeat by two points.
The final of the competition starts at 5pm, between Norway and Hungary, the latter holders of the title.
Also today, the Netherlands and Sweden will play for third place, and Germany ended in eighth place by defeating Switzerland by 29-27.
Until then, Angola's best ranking in the category was 11th place.
