Ndalatando - The Catholic bishop of the diocese of Ndalatando (Cuanza Norte), Msgr. Almeida Kanda, on Tuesday considered the inauguration of the new provincial hospital as an effective response to the desires for medical assistance to the population in the province.
Speaking to ANGOP, on the occasion of the inauguration of the new provincial hospital, in an act guided by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, the prelate praised the government's commitment to prioritizing the elevation of basic essential services to the population, where health is a reference.
Mgr. Almeida Kanda highlighted the valences that the new unit presents, by housing third-level medical services, adding that this reality should impose a strong commitment from professionals so that citizens have full access to the various specialties of medical assistance.
The bishop also praised the construction of the new water system for the city of Ndaltando, captured from the Lucala River, but called for greater attention from the government to improve access roads to the interior of the province, aiming to attract more private investment and facilitate the flow of products from the countryside.
In his turn, the general soba of Cuanza-Norte Custódio Domingos praised the government's investment initiative to diversify the medical services provided to the population that was often forced to seek specialty assistance in other provinces.
He urged communities to participate in the preservation of the project and denounce all attempts at vandalism.
Health professionals praise the hospital's skills
Several health professionals questioned by ANGOP praised the multi-disciplinary nature of the General Hospital of Cuanza-Norte Mário Coelho Pinto de Andrade, endowed with third-level care facilities.
The doctor placed in the unit in the specialty of physiotherapy, Geremias Victor considered the unit to be equipped with state-of-the-art technology that will add valences for a humanized treatment to the population and promote the reduction of evacuations to other reference units in Luanda.
Regina Pereira, also a physiotherapist, considered that the new unit is up to the current challenges of multidisciplinary specialty medical care.
Doctor Gingui Macaba praised the fact that the unit adds the valence of specialized training, in addition to medical assistance, as a factor of permanent elevation of the skills of professionals.
For the doctor, Carlos Manuel, the hospital is a demonstration of the executive's priority in basic essential services.
He defended the adoption of public policies that ensure the permanent maintenance of the hospital infrastructure, periodic updating of professionals, permanent review of equipment to have an acceptable durability and correspond to the desires of health care to the populations.The unit, equipped with 200 beds, is a national reference hospital for the services it brings together, with humanized care for users and families.
Named Mário Coelho Pinto de Andrade hospital in honor of the nationalist, born in Cuanza- Norte and who had an active participation in the fight for Angola's Independence.
The unit has cutting-edge technology, bringing together surgical medical services, complex medical examinations, a research center and an internship for staff training.
The new hospital located in the town of Quirima, 15 kilometers from Ndalatando, is expected to operate with 1,135 professionals, including doctors, nurses, diagnostic technicians and support staff.
