Luanda - Angola's Ministry of Tourism and the United Nations Tourism Organization signed a cooperation agreement in Madrid, Spain, on Thursday to promote and attract investments to the southern African country.
According to a press release that reached ANGOP on Friday, the agreement is an important tool for the promotion and development of tourism in Angola.
Márcio Daniel, Minister of Tourism, stressed that the country aims to attract more investments and create all the conditions to become a destination along with the biggest in the world, so the protocol signed with UN Tourism is essential to achieve this goal, the statement said.
"It is an honor for Angola to have the support of this organization, since it is in a crucial phase for the growth of the industry," said the Angolan minister.
The Secretary-General of UN Tourism, Zurab Pololikashvili, on his turn, said the agreement was an important milestone for Angola, as it would help promote the sustainable development of the sector.
On the sidelines of the signing of the agreement, the Angolan delegation discussed issues related to the second meeting of African tourism and transport ministers to be held in Luanda in July, the visit of the UN Tourism Secretary-General to Angola and the creation of a high-level tourism school in the country, among other projects in the pipeline.
