Uíge – The Provincial Governor of Uíge, José Carvalho da Rocha, reaffirmed, today the implementation of the digitalization program for the services of municipal administrations and educational institutions in the region.
The government official reiterated the fact at the opening of the 1st Internet Governance Forum in the Province of Uíge, which takes place under the motto “Promoting digital harmony and online responsibility”, in an initiative of the National Institute for the Promotion of the Information Society (INFOSI).
He said that the program is being implemented with the local Provincial Education Office, having started in I cycle schools, to allow students access to the internet and school management system.
“One of the challenges we face is to increasingly digitize our services, and this challenge has begun to be embraced by our schools,” said the governor.
To achieve this, the local government defined a period for the internet access program and the school management system to reach coverage of all schools in the region.
In turn, the general director of INFOSI, André Pedro, said that the 1st Internet Governance Forum defends the need to continue regulating the presence of internet use within families.
For this reason, he highlighted the need for general and higher education institutions to join the initiatives of holding monthly lectures on topics of internet governance and new information technologies.
The official announced the holding of the II National Forum on Internet Governance in February 2025, in Luanda, an event that will feature speakers from the province of Uíge.
Regarding the provincial meeting, which takes place under the motto “Promoting digital harmony and online responsibility”, he said that it aims to reflect on the importance of the internet in modern society and its responsible and inclusive use.
At the meeting, topics will be discussed in a round table: “The impact of artificial intelligence on modern society”, “Importance of the internet in modern society and responsible and inclusive use”, The challenges of digital inclusion and access to information technologies for the province and the safe internet: Challenges of security and privacy in digital life.
