Luanda – The minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, travelled to the Republic of Türkiye, on Thursday (10), to take part in the 4th Edition of the 2025 Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF).
According to a note from Mirex to which ANGOP has had access, the head of the Angolan diplomacy will stay in the 5th most populous tourist city in Turkey until Sunday, representing the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, in response to the invitation made by the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayip Erdogan.
At this forum, minister Téte António will speak on the panel entitled “Effective Mediation: Looking to the Future in Conflict Resolution”, which will be attended by the minister of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Peacekeeping, Rosemary Dicarlo, and moderated by the Executive Director of the “Marti Ahtisaari” Foundation, Jane Taalas.
Under the motto “Recovering diplomacy in a fragmented world”, the ADF 4th edition, on the Turkish Mediterranean coast, will welcome world leaders, policymakers, academics, businesspeople, as well as representatives of the media and civil society.
This year’s theme reflects the pressing need for diplomacy to reassert itself as a stabilising force amid growing global divisions.
The ADF is an initiative of the Turkish govt that aims to promote international dialogue through discussions on global issues linked to conflict, peace, security, poverty, migration, democracy, climate change, energy security and the fight against discrimination.
It also aims to inspire dialogue to redefine the role and fundamental principles of diplomacy in an increasingly polarised atmosphere by discussing the root causes of various issues, and to help policymakers reconsider how diplomacy can navigate turbulent times, with a focus on innovative conflict resolution instruments, mediation strategies and regional cooperation mechanisms.
