Luanda - Angolan Government has so far spent 380 billion kwanzas on 1,932 projects of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).
This was announced Friday in Luanda the National Director of Public Investment, Juciene Cristiano, while speaking at the end of a meeting of the Inter-ministerial Commission for the Implementation of PIIM (CIPIM).
The director mentioned 852 projects as being in the conclusion phase and with funding standing at above 70 percent, while another 331 have been completed.
The meeting, chaired by the minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes Júnior, focused on the resumption of projects in the province of Cuando Cubango, in the view of the work of conformation of the PIIM portfolio in the region.
Juciene Cristiano said that the province of Cuando Cubango analysed the PIIM project portfolio focusing on four quadrants and on actions that would not undergo changes and that should be restarted as soon as possible.
The also focused on renegotiation of some contracts laid down in order to change the scope of some projects aimed at reducing costs.
The province focused on the contractual termination of the projects, considered non-priority, at this stage of execution and on the identification of the projects that have come to a halt and with a level of execution of 50 percent.
"The province has finished this exercise and because of that, 12 projects such as education, health, energy and water, transport and communication routes are already under way", the official said.
The official assured that the financial component is guaranteed until the end of the PIIM project for the whole country.
In implementation, since June 2020, the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) has the general objective of materialising actions included in the Public Investment Program (PIP).
Also include the operation of Development Support Expenses (DAD) and Basic Activities (Act), with priority to social actions to limit rural exodus and promote more inclusive economic, social and regional growth in the country.
The PIIM intends to increase the autonomy of the 164 municipalities in Angola, as part of the policy of deconcentration and decentralization of administrative competences, as well as improve the living quality across the country.
