Luanda - Luanda - The Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, reaffirmed on Monday the Government's commitment to adopting measures that facilitate young people's access to quality education, employment and overcoming social and economic barriers.
In a note, on the occasion of International Youth Day, which is marked today, the minister acknowledged the challenges faced by many young people and assured that the Government works to allow every Angolan, on this fringe, to have the tools and support necessary to realize their full potential.
On the occasion, the minister encouraged young people to continue to dream big, to be resilient in the face of adversity and to maintain the spirit of solidarity and unity that has always characterized Angolan youth.
'May your voice always be heard and may your actions inspire future generations. Angola needs you. The future is in your hands. I am confident that together we can build a stronger, fairer and more prosperous nation,' reads the document.
Rui Falcão said that Angolan youth is the nation's greatest resource, considering young people as builders of the present and architects of tomorrow.
'Your energy, creativity and ability to innovate are invaluable forces driving the social, economic and cultural progress of our country. That is why, as an Executive, we have redoubled our efforts to create an environment that fosters your abilities, promotes your well-being and offers real opportunities for your development,' he said.
He stressed that International Youth Day is a date that invites reflection on the fundamental role that young people play in building a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable future for Angola.
August 12 is celebrated as International Youth Day to encourage education and awareness among young people about the responsibility they assume as representatives of the future of the planet.
The date was created, through resolution 54/120, at the initiative of the United Nations (UN), as a consequence of the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth, in Lisbon, Portugal. CPM/MCN/DOJ
