Mbanza-Kongo – A total of 3 people died and 2 others were seriously injured, as a result of a collision between a truck and a three-wheeled motorbike, which occurred on Sunday, Jan 12, morning in the municipality of Tomboco, province of Zaire.
The accident happened at 9:30 am on national road 210, which connects the Yanda Mavata neighborhood to the Lusualala river, resulting in deaths of citizens aged between 45 and 75 years old.
According to the National Police spokesperson to that province, Intendant Luís Bernardo, the accident occurred when the truck driver lost control of the vehicle on the bend and collided with a motorbike coming from the opposite direction.
The source pointed to excessive speed and a lack of caution as the likely causes of this accident, which resulted in the immediate death of three of the six occupants of the motorbike.
The injured received medical assistance at the Tomboco Municipal Hospital, while the deceased were taken to the aforementioned health unit's morgue.
Luís Bernardo said that the corporation's employees are on the trail of the truck driver who is on the run in the woods of the agricultural town of Tomboco, to be held responsible.
The municipality of Tomboco is 150 km from the city of Mbanza-Kongo, capital of the northern province of Zaire. JL./CF/DOJ
