Luanda - The Angola and São Tomé Episcopal Conference (CEAST), on Wednesday in Luanda launched their Jubilee and the National Congress for Peace and Reconciliation, within the scope of the 50th anniversary of Angolan Independence.
The information was given by the Secretary-General of the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace, Father Celestino Epalanga, during a press conference, in the capital, on the occasion of the congress, to be held in October 2025, under the motto "Behold, I make all things new".
He stressed that in the scope of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Independence, CEAST, through the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace and the Integrity of Creation, promotes and encourages the holding of the aforementioned event.
Within the scope of the Independence Jubilee, it is proposed to be an occasion for collective introspection, which provides a restorative moment for the entire Angolan nation.
He emphasized that such a moment of deep reflection on the historical path of joys and also weaknesses could be translated into the national table, in a reconciliation congress, in a commitment to new directions for the country.
According to the source, the objective is to come up with a national meeting for self-evaluation and search for new directions for the future and a historical retrospect in search of lessons from the last 50 years.
It also aims to establish a common commitment for the future of the Angolan nation and produce a fiftieth anniversary letter that reflects the corrections that the historical past has produced and a new proposal for life.
He said that the event also serves as an opportunity for the health, education, defence and security, economic and judicial sectors to reflect and seek their contributions that will provide sustainability to the event and to society in general.
