Mbanza Kongo - Doctor Jovelina Daniel has urged citizens over 45 years of age to go to hospital centers for routine consultations on prostate cancer and to abstain from home treatment.
Speaking to ANGOP as part of Blue November, the specialist at Zaire Provincial Hospital said that regular examinations for this pathology help to diagnose the disease early and avoid the worst.
Among the symptoms of prostate cancer, the doctor pointed to difficulties in urinating and blood in the urine, which is why she advises men to put aside their prejudices and go regularly to the health authorities to have their rectum examined.
The doctor explained that prostate cancer has a definitive diagnosis made through a biopsy, a test that consists of a urologist taking samples of small pieces and that in the last three months the local hospital has registered 15 suspected cases of prostate cancer, some of which have resulted in death.
“We are monitoring two serious suspected cases of this disease at the Provincial Hospital,” the doctor said.
As prevention measures, the specialist pointed out that in addition to regular examinations, there should be a healthy diet, abstinence from excessive consumption of red meat, tobacco and alcoholic beverages. DMN/JL/DAN/AMP
