Luanda - The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Media, Mário de Oliveira, said Friday in Luanda that Angotic has become one of the most important meetings for the digital transformation path, not only in Angola, but also on the African continent.
The minister made the statement at the launch of the 5th edition of the Angola International Information and Communication Technology Forum (Angotic 2025), to take place next year.
According to the minister, Angotic is a crucial moment for the national technology sector in the quest for alignment with national and international partners, in outlining strategies and a path to follow, with a view to the digital transformation of the country, the region and the continent in general.
This national showcase, the minister said, has also become a platform for important issues to be discussed and a quest for common paths to follow, as well as exploring the opportunities opening up for the digital transformation of organizations, institutions and companies, with the aim of technologically modernizing the economy and society.
“Anyone who has taken part in previous editions can testify to the quality of the high-level debates, the important connections that have been made and the innovative technological solutions presented,” the minister said, adding that the next edition will explore the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its potential to boost economic and technological growth.
Strategies for overcoming challenges and harnessing AI to improve connectivity, optimize networks and foster innovation will also be analyzed.
The promotion of business, partnerships and investments to leverage the emergence and consolidation of an intelligent society will be one of the main focuses of the event, which aims, among other things, to take stock of the state of the art in attracting new talent and training young people, paying special attention to girls.
Mário de Oliveira highlighted some milestones in the telecommunications sector and expressed the country's pride in the latest connectivity initiatives, whether terrestrial, submarine or satellite, which as the minister said, are helping to transform Angola into a true regional communications hub.
Taking place in the year in which the country celebrates the 50th anniversary of National Independence, the 2025 edition of Angotic will be held under the slogan “50 years communicating, modernizing and developing Angola” and the topics to be covered will focus on connectivity, artificial intelligence, digital DNA, cyber security and building trust in companies.
