Dundo - Four hundred and seventy diamond stones of various carats were seized on Saturday in the municipality of Lóvua, Lunda-Norte province, by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), for possession and illegal trafficking.
The information was provided today, Sunday, by the spokesman for the SIC in Lunda-Norte, Graciano Lumanhe, stressing that the diamonds were in the possession of a 47-year-old Angolan citizen.
He said that the seizure and detention is the result of a micro-operation, called 'Operation Christmas-24', which aims to combat mining, illegal immigration, fuel smuggling, among other crimes.
During the operation, several means used for the illicit activity of buying and selling diamonds were also seized.
He stressed that the diamonds will be delivered to ENDIAMA EP, as a trustee and the citizen will be presented to the Public Prosecutor's Office, for the subsequent steps. HD/DOJ
