Luanda – The Republic of Angola will host, in Luanda, from the 20th to the 25th of this month, the 15th Assembly of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region Parliamentary Forum (ICGLR-PF).
The fact was made public on Tuesday (8) by the Speaker of the Angolan Parliament, Carolina Cerqueira, during the solemn session of the National Assembly, as part of the visit to the country by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The event, which will happen under the motto “Inclusive Leadership in the Great Lakes Region”, will take place in a challenging regional context in which the instability caused by the armed conflicts still prevalent in some countries in the region is an urgent concern.
For this reason, Carolina Cerqueira stressed, parliamentarians are called to promote a culture of dialogue and peace for the benefit of the continent's populations, mainly the most vulnerable, as well as for the stability and progress of member countries.
She also said that, at this meeting, Angola will succeed the Republic of Zambia as president of this important parliamentary organization.
