Moçâmedes – The capital of the south-west Namibe province, Moçamedes, is the venue of the Martyrs of Colonial Repression Day’s main event, on 04 January.
The activity is presided over by minister of Defence, João Ernesto dos Santos “Liberdade”.
The date is meant to recognise to the Angolan compatriots who were brutally murdered by the Portuguese fascists army in the region of Baixa de Cassanje, northern Malanje province, occurred 59 years ago.
The event is taking place under the motto “4 January – Memory of Angolan resistance against colonialism”.
Other activities to mark the event include, wreath laying on the tombs of unknown soldiers, and visit to the Former Administrative Post of São Nicolau, commune of Bentiaba, in Moçâmedes.
Baixa de Cassange comprises Malange, Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul provinces.
It includes Sunginge, Zungue, Kassange, Wholodia Coxi, Santa Comba, Mulundo villages.
