Dundo - Five hundred and 85 citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were expelled from the Angolan province of Lunda-Norte last weekend by local authorities during a micro-operation for illegal entry and stay in the national territory.
The information was provided Monday by the spokesman for the Provincial Command of the National Police in Lunda-Norte, Domingos Muanafumo, stressing that the immigrants were repatriated to their country of origin through the border posts of Cuango, Chitato, Caungula, Lóvua and Cambulo.
He said that the immigrants intended to settle in the diamond mining areas.
Domingos Muanafumo added that in the same operation, 4,690 liters of fuel were seized, diesel (2,660) and gasoline (2,030), for smuggling into DRC.
He said that 15 diamond stones, three solar panels, among other means, were also seized in Xá Muteba, Capenda Camulemba, Cambulo and Chitato.
Without revealing the number of citizens involved in the crimes, he informed that the diamonds will be delivered to ENDIAMA as a trustee, while the fuel will be listed in the criminal process against the offenders.
